louisiana lovin'.

This summer my family will be moving to Louisiana (:
cajun country, if you will.
So last week we took a nice long trip over there: house hunting, school tours, meeting lots of new people and constantly eating endless amounts of amazing food.
I saw an alligator, ate some alligator appetizers, almost stepped on a snake, rode an enormous 4wheeler to my heart's content, chilled with cows, and had a great time with family and friends.
Saying I enjoyed myself would be an understatement.
I love Louisiana.

I realized how much I would love to be a full-time country girl.

My darling brother actually let me take pictures of him! Love you Nathan.

SNAKE.
this is nothing phenomenal photography wise, but I was a little too terrified to get a good shot(:

I think they liked me.

crazy cat lady.

For those of you who aren't cat lovers, I'm sorry for this next post.
I, on the other hand, absolutely adore cats. We have four, so that should tell you something..
The day before my third birthday I told my parents I wanted a kitten. My dad went searching all over the place and found me a half Siamese. I still remember peering at Pocahontas in a cardboard box as she cried.
(I was in a major Pocahontas and Mulan phase at that time...thankfully I didn't name her Mulan...)
Pocahontas turned 15 this year. She sleeps with me, sits in my chair as I do my homework, follows me around the house, and freaks out when I'm not home.
I love cats, and all animals for that matter, but cats are particularly awesome.
In my opinion anyway..

And if you're wondering why on earth I would have a post about cats..in the past week I've somehow managed to get good pictures of them, which is rare. And Simba did something particularly cute which I photographed and my mom "dared" me to put it on here...not that I mind :)

my precious!
pochimin, pocah, fat cat, pilates girl, jezebel.

Winston!
this is old...like right when I first got my camera, but I couldn't get a new good shot of him..tempermental old man.
winny, winnikins, lucifer, old man, winnen.

Simba! he was laying on his back with his paws up above his head. adorable little guy. He cries like a girl.
simmy, ahhkarimba, drapey paws, fatty, mean brother, timba, timmy.

Ducky! she's adorable, even if she sucks on blankets...
duck duck goose, goosey, lucy, little sister, little one, munchkin, sucky ducky, mean sister.

class of 2011.

A few weeks ago I got my senior pictures done by Mary Jane Kinnas.
She did such a beautiful job and I had an amazing time with her. Definitely check out her website!
Taken at the lovely Henderson Village in Perry Georgia, Mrs. Mary Jane got so many great shots! I love them all. And now that I'm having to chose only one to include in graduation invitations, I'm having a rather difficult time. So ladies and gents, this is where you come in (: I've somehow managed to narrow my favorites to just a few, so now I need some help. I'd love yalls feedback!
please and thankyou

hello spring!

Spring is my favorite time of the year.
No doubt about it. The lovely flowers that appear out of nowhere, the crisp smell of the air, and even the loud birds singing who tend to wake me up a little too early sometimes. It’s all so new and fresh. But even so, it only lasts for a little while! And then it’s gone again.
Like the gorgeous Georgia peach blossoms, which I am so fond of – they’re only around for a few weeks before they disappear into a wash of green. Or how about last year, I neglected to take any pictures of my neighbors beautiful blooming iris before it was too late (not this year:)) Spring doesn't last near long enough.
In many of my dad’s sermons, after he reads a passage of Scripture, he often quotes Isaiah 40:8, which I’ve come to know by heart:
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our Lord stands forever.”
Far from fading, God’s word and covenant of grace provides hope to a weak people, giving us an assurance of life through His eternal promises. As pretty as spring may be with all its blooms, nothing compares to living in the knowledge and assurance of His love for and promises to us, which will never die.

splatter paint sunday.

Sunday was an absolutely gorgeous day, and after church I decided to do a little art project outside.
At my graduation ceremony with the umbrella school I attend, we're supposed to have a "senior board." Basically, a trifold filled with pictures illustrating our lives so far. Instead of having just a basic color, I decided it would be way more fun to splatter paint the background.
Paint was everywhere :)

so easy! and yet it looks so awesome.

the grass just turned green again, and now I go off and kill it with paint:)

Our sweet Golden Retriever, Buddy..I guess he was laying just a tad too close. sorry Grayson:)

giveaway time!! beautiful Venetian earrings from here and here.  :)

and if that's not enough for you, try this.

consider the lilies..

One of my greatest struggles is impatience. I so often want to know God’s plan for me - right here, right now. Forget waiting. It’s been on my mind a lot lately, especially today, and a friend and I were talking about it. She reminded me that God has a promised plan for my life.
And it is perfect, in His perfect time.
So I went and looked through some of the photos that I've taken in the past. And one of my favorite and frequent things to do with photography is to try capture God’s gorgeous details in the everyday life.
If God takes the time to care for the little things of the world, what makes me think that He’s not going to have an extremely lovely and intricate future for me as well? But even more so because I am His beloved child, made in His image. My future will be beautiful, because it's the plan He has laid out for me.

"Consider the lilies," Jesus said, "how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.  Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field...will he not much more clothe you?  Therefore, do not worry."
Matthew 6:28-31
