a drawing class outing

In my drawing class, it's a very normal occurrence for Professor Hatmaker to bring animals to class for us to draw. From dalmatians to parrots, you never know what might appear.
But last week, we went to the animals instead.
A trip to the Athens "zoo," which was more like a super fun nature preserve.
alligators, bears, bobcats, deer, a bald eagle, and my favorite - lots and lots of owls.
My teacher somehow convinced the owl keeper to bring out two: a barn and screech owl.

To have an owl as a pet, you have to become a master falconer.
too bad it costs an arm and a leg to become one.
new addition to the bucket list?
it's either an owl or a hedgehog.

well, the big owl (barn owl?) is giving me harry potter flashbacks. which is awesome. the smaller, creepy, terrifying one is giving me nightmare flashbacks, but it's kinda cool to know that there are birds like that in the world.
anyway, awesome pictures :)
p.s. your professors name...is..hatmaker?
